The GEO Portal

GEO launches the GEO Portal!

What is the GEO Portal?

The GEO Portal provides a web-based interface for searching and accessing the data, information, imagery, services and applications available through the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). It connects users to data bases, services and portals that provide reliable, up-to-date, integrated and user-friendly information – vital for the work of decision-makers, managers and other users of Earth observations.

GEO wants your opinion on the candidate GEO Portals

Testing the GEO Portal prototypes

GEO launched a one-year assessment period (or Initial Operating Capacity) for the GEO Portal in June 2008. This gives, you – the user – the opportunity to assess the three prototype GEO Portals. Based on feedback from the entire GEO community, the GEO Portal will be continuously refined and then fully established during the course of 2009.

The Portal providers will be responding to your comments during the course of the assessment period and regularly improving and upgrading their sites. You are therefore strongly encouraged to visit the prototype Portals periodically in order to assess the improvements and changes that have been made.

Your feedback is invaluable to ensuring that GEOSS achieves its true potential. Please submit your comments and suggestions via the electronic User Feedback Form at the bottom of this page.

Direct links to the candidate portals are also provided below.

GEO Portal User Feedback Form

You did not fill out a User Feedback Form after testing one of the candidate GEO Portals?

It is not too late! Please contribute to make the portals better.
